Drifted Away

Sometimes I wonder when things started changing between us.

Was there a moment when everything we had slowly became distant? A moment when one of us began drifting away while the other was still standing there, trying to understand what happened?

It feels strange when someone who once felt so close suddenly seems impossibly far away. Almost like watching a rocket take someone you love into the sky you can see them leaving, but you don't know how to stop it.

I keep wondering where I was when you started slipping away from me.

Maybe I was too lost in my own thoughts. Maybe I was afraid to say what I really felt. Maybe I kept waiting for the right moment, believing there would always be another chance to tell you what you meant to me.

And then, somehow, the moment passed.

I don't know what's waiting ahead for us anymore.

Maybe we'll find our way back to each other. Maybe we'll become strangers with memories. Maybe life will take us in completely different directions.

But there is one thing I know.

I'm not ready to let go of what we were.

There are nights when my imagination takes me back to the moments between us—the conversations, the silence, the little things that probably meant more to me than I ever admitted.

I imagine a different version of our story.

One where I said what I was feeling instead of keeping it inside.

One where misunderstandings were cleared before they became walls.

One where fear didn't make decisions for us.

One where you stayed.

Maybe that's what love does sometimes. It makes you build entire worlds out of possibilities.

I look at the sky and wonder if somewhere, somehow, you're looking at the same stars.

Perhaps we're both moving through our own lives now, pretending that we're okay, while a small part of us still remembers what could have been.

I don't know whether our story has ended or whether we're simply somewhere in the middle of it.

But if there is still a road leading back to you, I hope I find it.

And if I ever get another chance, I don't want to hesitate.

I want to hold on.

Because even though I don't know what's up ahead, even though I can't predict where life will take us...
